GB Market Update – 28th August 2025

First of all welcome to our new look website. I do hope that you find content useful and the shop easy to use.

Currently demand for GB discounted postage remains quite poor with our auction lots discounted postage only realising 42% to 44% face value, and that’s before deduction of any selling fees. Hopefully now that summer is nearly behind us the market will settle down and perhaps get a little stronger on the run up to Christmas.

In the last few weeks we have received many large consignments stamps so there is definitely no shortage of material out there. The question is becoming what’s best to do with it all ?

We deal with packages in strict order of date received and due to our recent holiday period there is a bit of a backlog to deal with. Please be patient as there is now only two of us to get everything done.

As mentioned before we are reluctant to pay any more than 33% face value for Commemorative and Christmas stamps of any type.

Sadly people are just not using the higher value stamps like they used to either and the premium for stamps £1 to £5 is not really justifiable any longer. In fact we have been including high value stamps in our internet clearance lots as they are just not selling fast enough.

Buying postage at 33% face value gives us roughly a 10% profit margin (after selling fees) should we at some point decide to sell off our entire stock of postage stamps by auction on the Internet.
